FLIP Africa and SafeBoda have announced a partnership to provide safe and affordable transportation to job seekers and recent hires who find opportunities through the FLIP Africa platform.
FLIP, founded in 2019 in Kampala, Uganda, is a digital freelance marketplace that aims to create trust, transparency and growth for workers in the $884 Billion African gig economy. The platform was created in recognition of failing economic systems in Uganda and across Africa, where up to 90% of urban youth, including many with university degrees, are excluded from work opportunities in the formal sector and are forced into gig work in the highly unregulated and exploitative informal sector. SafeBoda is a ride-hailing company that offers boda and car hailing services within the Kampala Metropolitan region through an app. With SafeBoda, customers can move safely and affordably from one point to another, while with SafeCar, they can travel comfortably with friends or family without negotiating with the driver.
Through this partnership, FLIP Africa and SafeBoda aim to provide reliable transportation to job seekers and recent hires who often face difficulties in accessing affordable and safe transportation in Uganda. This partnership will not only help these individuals reach their places of work safely and on time, but it will also contribute to creating more job opportunities in the region.
