SafeBoda ID Verification: Why and how you should submit your details

Initially, your name and phone number have been the basic details needed for you to access services on the SafeBoda app. But now, as a financially regulated company, SafeBoda is required by law to verify all its customers.

To protect your Wallet — and do our part to prevent fraud — we may ask you to verify your identity by providing us with additional information, such as a photo of your ID, or supporting documents.

Verifying your identity is vital especially when you are transferring funds through the SafeBoda app, when you’ve requested an increase to your sending limit, or in the event of unusual activity on your account and SafeBoda needs to take extra measures to protect you.

How to verify your identity on the SafeBoda app

  • Go to My Account
  • Tap on ID Verification
  • Select Verify Identity
  • Confirm the country that issued the identity documentation
  • Select between National ID, Passport, or Driver License to upload

Allow the SafeBoda app to access your phone’s camera and capture the front and back side of the ID. Once both are captured, your identity will be verified in less than 24 hours.

What happens to my personal information after I upload it?

As per the SafeBoda Privacy Policy, your information and/or documents are stored on secured servers. These are only used when the team is completing the periodic Know Your Customer (KYC) checks.
