The month of January is recognized globally as a Data Privacy Month, SafeBoda proudly aligns itself with the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) and their 2024 Data Privacy Campaign themed “Stop, Think, Own Your Privacy.”
As a digital and technology-driven company, SafeBoda recognizes the paramount importance of data privacy and has actively taken steps to foster a culture of responsible data handling both internally and externally.
In an era where digital interactions play a pivotal role, SafeBoda places a high premium on safeguarding the data of its stakeholders. The company diligently upholds stringent data protection practices, such as advising customers against sharing wallet pins and ensuring that staff never request customer passwords.
This commitment to data security extends beyond rhetoric, as SafeBoda collaborates closely with the Personal Data Protection Office and NITA Uganda to ensure compliance with data protection laws and regulations.
Being entrusted with the role of Country Director at SafeBoda, I have taken on the pivotal position of Data Protection Officer. Supported by our Compliance/Legal Department, my responsibility is to lead comprehensive training and oversee all data-related activities. This multifaceted approach emphasizes that data is not merely a byproduct but a responsibility we handle with the utmost integrity.
As we embark on this journey of privacy consciousness, SafeBoda calls upon all stakeholders, be it our valued drivers and customers, esteemed staff, or the larger community, to actively participate in championing data privacy. Every interaction, every shared piece of information, and every digital footprint should be handled with the awareness that data is a valuable asset that deserves protection.
