The genesis of SafeBoda spelt a long journey into an industry heavily dominated by men. At least, from the idea of one thinking of taking a boda-boda ride, it is a man driving one off to their destination.
7 years later, what started with 3 co-founders and 20 drivers, the family has grown into a home of hundreds of staff and close to 40,000 drivers — spread across two African cities.
This Women’s Day, as we celebrate ‘Gender Equality for a sustainable tomorrow’, SafeBoda joins the global community to break the bias against female involvement in societal activity.
Here are some of the ladies changing the narrative and breaking the bias at SafeBoda.
Pamela Reynell
Being a VP for People at SafeBoda calls for more than just being a people-person, and Pamela excels at this. In her capacity, he has exercised her passion of seeing everyone in the community happy, valued, and appreciated — the exact definition of her role!
Catherine Tulina
If smiles define wealth, Cathie does break the bank! The Deputy Country Director — Uganda and VP for Global Support has that signature smile that keeps SafeBoda rocking. Cathie has written the script of what lies ahead of the SafeBoda family, and there’s one comment about it all: it’s working and we are going places!
Frida Mwaura
Frida is an Operations Expert and has spent most of her career working in Operations; her most recent post being the Head of Operations with Turaco Kenya. She joins SafeBoda as the VP of Operations in Uganda, extending her midas touch to the daily company activity.
Bisola Odulake
You will agree that managing people can be an uphill task. Despite how tedious her job is, Bisola makes it easy with amazing delivery and a touch of excellence. Bisola is the Senior Manager of People Operations in Nigeria and she’s committed to making everyone at the Nigeria office happy and helping them perform optimally.
Maureen Jwenge
Keeping the app up and running for over hundreds of thousands of daily active users is not a job to undermine. At SafeBoda, the team that ensures that every bit of the product is in place is headed by a strong woman in Maureen, the Head of Product Support.
Maureen does not only command the attention of her team but also ensures that every bug report that comes in is solved in the soonest possible time. A super woman, she is!
Temilade Alao

Victoria Nakabugo Ttega

Dolapo Jafojo
Ensuring the smooth running of operations at SafeBoda Nigeria is what keeps Dolapo up at night mostly. She is the VP of Operations in Nigeria, her intellligence and exceptional leadership skills play a huge role in the success of SafeBoda in Nigeria.
Dora Agai
If there is any reason SafeBoda is growing in number of staff, it is Dora — the Head of Recruitment and Retention. Her DNA is intertwined with spotting the very best talent for the company and ensuring they are treated with the utmost respect while at work.
There’s something interesting about her style of work: eloquence. She speaks and writes with precision, and leaves a mark on every chapter she closes.
